PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Wolverine Access is UVU's start-right textbook program, providing eligible students with all their required books on the first day of class for a one low price of $250 for the fall and spring semesters and $150 for summer semester. This ensures that everyone has the resources needed to succeed from the start.
Students taking undergraduate-level courses and graduate-level courses. This excludes concurrent enrollment taught by non-UVU faculty and Continuing Education/Workforce.
All eligible students begin each semester with complete access to all required textbooks. Should students want to opt out of the start-right program by the drop deadline, they can source materials on their own or through the UVU Store on a per-title basis.
All written textbooks, whether print or digital, are included in the program, including required lab manuals and course packets. Print books issued through the start-right Wolverine Access program will be new or used, whichever is available, and are yours to keep.
Most required textbooks and digital resources are covered by the program. Course supplies that are not considered "written material" are not included, such as lab coats, goggles, art supplies, latex gloves, etc. Other course materials and product exclusions may apply. Check with your course instructor or the UVU Store for specific details.
No, students may choose to change their program selection between the Wolverine Access start-right program, selecting individual book titles via an Selective Access À La Carte style, or opting out completely if they like. Wolverine Access is highly recommended, as it ensures you have all the required materials on the first day of classes at a predictable and often lower cost.
PROGRAM PARTICIPATION
All eligible students will automatically have access to the start-right program at the beginning of the semester. However, you may choose to change your program option to Selective Access À La Carte, where you can choose to pay for required digital books on a per-title basis. This provides students with transparency and flexibility in what they would like to buy. Please be advised that the Selective Access À La Carte option only includes the required digital books. Print books will need to be purchased and sourced on your own.
After viewing your program options, you have the further choice to opt completely out of both the start-right program and Selective Access À La Carte, in which case the associated Wolverine Access charges on your student account will be reversed within 24-48 business hours.
Important Notice: If you choose to opt out of Wolverine Access completely, your digital access to course materials and textbook content (in Canvas) will end on the drop/add deadline of each semester at 11:59 PM (MST).
For those opting out, physical textbooks must be returned to the UVU Store by the opt-out deadline.
*REMINDER: The opt-out deadline is the drop deadline for each semester. If you miss this deadline, you will be enrolled in the program for the semester, and the Wolverine Access fee will be charged to your account.
If you are not able to view "Switch Programs", you may first need to create an account within vital source.
1. Select "Create an Account"
2. Do not "Continue with myUVU" Fill out the required fields to create an account and make sure to use your UVID email.

After all print items are returned to the UVU Store (where applicable), the program fee posted to your university account will be reversed. PAYMENT INFORMATION
Wolverine Access is a one low cost of $250 for each fall/spring semester and $150 for each summer semester, billed to your university account.
The start-right Wolverine Access charge will appear on your university bill each semester. Payment for Wolverine Access follows all tuition and fee payment deadlines and plans. If you choose to opt-out of the program, the charge will be reversed on your account.
The opt-out structure ensures that campuses have the economies of scale necessary to secure bulk discounts from publishers and other suppliers. It also guarantees that students have their required materials automatically on or before the first day of classes. Students have two to three weeks before the opt-out deadline to shop, compare, and make sure they are getting their materials for the lowest price.
When negotiating with publishers, institutions can achieve significant savings in an opt-out program and better terms, as it is operationally more efficient than an opt-in program, and that savings can be realized by institutions and students. On average, opt-out access programs save students an average of 59.4 percent compared to new print list prices (PLP) and 30.8 percent from digital list prices (DLP).
Financial aid Title 4 funds may be used to pay for textbooks, with your authorization. Students can access the consent from to give their authorization in the Self Service Financial Aid Module at UVU Financial Aid.
